PERIODONTAL TREATMENT
COMMON SIGNS OF GUM DISEASE
Gum disease starts out as gingivitis, but can lead to periodontitis (full-blown gum disease) if it’s left untreated. If you’re wondering what signs you should look out for, here are some of the most common symptoms linked to gum disease.
Bleeding Gums (From Brushing or Flossing)
Chronic Bad Breath
Loose Teeth
Pockets Between Teeth & Gums
Receding Gums
Red or Swollen Gums
Sensitive or Sore Gums
If you experience any of the symptoms above, we strongly encourage you to call our office to schedule a consultation as soon as possible.

ROOT SCALING AND PLANNING
Deep cleanings are generally used for treating mild to moderate stages of gum disease. During this process, we remove built up tartar and plaque located at or below the gum line using an ultrasonic scaling tool. After your teeth are clean and tartar-free, we smooth out your gums to prevent bacteria from collecting there in the future.
PERIODONTAL MAINTENANCE
Because periodontitis is a lifelong issue, treatments must be performed every 3 or 4 months (possibly for life). However, if it’s treated early with aggressive 3-month treatments and strict dental hygiene practices, some patients can return to regular teeth cleanings every 6 months.
